Anna-Sofie Skjervedal holds a Master of Arts in Culture, Communication and Globalization from Aalborg University. Her area of specialization is public participation in Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (IAs). At present Anna-Sofie works as a Joint PhD Candidate at Ilisimatusarfik – University of Greenland at the Institute of Social Science, Economics and Journalism in Nuuk and Aalborg University at the Institute of Planning in Aalborg. She is also attached the ‘ARCTIC CHALLENGE’ project. Her research focuses on the current public participation practices applied in IAs in relation to mineral and petroleum resources development in Greenland with specific focus on youth engagement. Through her research on youth engagement she explores visual methods to engage the Greenlandic youth and how the youth perceive challenges and opportunities of Greenland as a potential future oil industry.
Anna-Sofie Skjervedal also successfully defended her PhD in August 2018 at Ilisimatusarfik.
