Grønland Center for Sundhedsforskning (GCHR) ved Institut for Sundhed & Natur blev indviet ved et møde i Grønlandsmedicinsk Selskab i Nuuk i oktober 2008.

Mål

Formålet med Centeret er at styrke samarbejdet mellem forskere fra andre lande og sundhedspersonale i Grønland, at fremme forskningssamarbejdet inden for Grønland, og for at lette samspillet mellem forskere fra andre lande med det grønlandske samfund. GCHR er aktiv i undervisningen på alle niveauer fra holdundervisningen af sygeplejestuderende til vejledning af ph.d.-studerende. På længere sigt vil GCHR arbejde for etableringen af et dataarkiv og arkiv af prøver indsamlet i Grønland.

Vision

Det er Centerets vision at forbedre sundhedstilstanden i Grønland gennem initiativtagen og koordinering af sundhedsforskning.

GCHR arbejder for at skabe forbindelser mellem forskningscenter, uafhængige forskere og studerende samt sundhedspersonale i Grønland og international. Grønlands Universitet, Institut for Sundhed & Natur. Vi har samarbejdet med Grønlands Naturinstitut om opførsel af den nye bygning. Centeret har underskrevet “Memorandum of Understanding” med det canadiske Institut for Circumpolar Sundhed i Yellowknife (Northwest Territories) og UArctic.

Centeret samarbejder med:

• Arctic Transatlantic Telehealth Research Network

Yderligere er GCHR medarrangør af NUNAMED konferencen, del af det tematiske netværk om sundhed og trivsel i Arktis under University of the Arctic, bl.a. Nordic Nursing Education Network, samt medlem af Circumpolar Health Research Network.
